What is Cement?

Cement is a building material that is used as a binding agent to hold together various construction materials. It is made by heating a mixture of limestone and clay to a high temperature, and then grinding the resulting product (called clinker) into a fine powder. This powder is then mixed with a small amount of gypsum and other additives to create the final product.

When mixed with water, it acts as a binding agent in construction, hardening over time to form a strong, durable material. Cement is the most widely used construction material in the world and is a key ingredient in concrete, mortar, and grout. This cement is commonly used in the construction of roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures. The most common type of cement is called Portland cement, named after the place, where it was first produced in the early 19th century.
